About Sunrise
Sunrise Pediatrics was started in July, 2000. Our physicians, nurses and staff provide care to children and adolescents from birth to age 21. We recognize that every child is unique and we treat each one as an individual. Each physician in the practice follows their own group of patients in order to build a relationship with the children and their families and to improve continuity of care. We enjoy working with families to promote the health and well-being of their children, both physical and emotional, and to help each child reach their full potential.
Our office hours are from 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. We are closed each day for lunch from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM.
Patients are seen by appointment and can be scheduled on the same day for acute care needs. We do not allot time for walk-in appointments. Calling the office before bringing your child to be seen makes it easier to accommodate your needs and respect the appointment times for other families who have been scheduled that day.
After regular business hours and on weekends and holidays you can call for advice to UNC hospital's HealthLink nurse triage line. The nurse can answer many of your questions after hours and will page the doctor on call when needed. The toll-free number for HealthLink is (888) 267-3675. There is a small charge for use of this service for advice after hours.
New Families
Our practice is accepting new patients, both newborns and older children. Expectant parents and prospective new families are welcome to visit us to meet with one of the physicians and see our office. These visits are scheduled individually and can be arranged by calling the office.
Newborns
We welcome babies born at all the area hospitals and at the birthing center in Chapel Hill. If you deliver at Rex hospital, one of our pediatricians will examine the baby each day while you are in the hospital, for an initial assessment and follow-up. Babies are usually seen in the office 2 to 3 days after discharge from the hospital.
If your baby is born at another hospital or birthing center, their staff will provide the initial care during your hospital stay and follow-up will be arranged with us after you go home.
Lactation Consultant
We are pleased to have an experienced board-certified lactation consultant on our nursing staff. She is available for consultations with nursing mothers and to provide any needed assistance with breastfeeding concerns.
